What is Melasma?
Melasma, or brown spots, are pigmented lesions that most commonly appear with increased sun exposure; however, they can be caused by other reasons such as:
- Hormones
- Radiation
- Pregnancy
- Diabetes
- Skin Products
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Medications
- Wounds
When certain patches of skin become darker than the surrounding area, melasma can occur. Brown spots typically develop on the face, but you may notice spots on your back, shoulders, arms, chest, and the back of your hands.
If your melasma causes a lack of confidence or does not fit with your aesthetic goals, Evolve Medical has multiple treatment options to bring you your desired results.
Microneedling
Microneedling helps stimulate cell renewal and collagen production through multiple tiny pin pricks. This will rejuvenate the affected area of skin–for a smooth, even skin tone.
CIT Microneedling
Like microneedling, CIT microneedling uses the same “pin prick” technology to stimulate cell renewal, along with protein-rich plasma. Your own plasma will help heal your skin and create a beautiful complexion.
Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy uses low-wavelengths of light to gently stimulate your skin cells while you relax. Over time, you will begin to see a natural, more even skin tone.
Laser Therapy
Target specific brown spots with the precision of laser therapy. Powerful laser energy can pinpoint your areas of concern and help heal your skin. Laser therapy works best after 3-6 treatments depending on the individual.
Chemical Peels
Reinvigorate your skin with the exfoliating power of a chemical peel. By buffing away the older layer of skin, your body naturally produces new skin cells and brings out your fresh complexion.
SkinCeuticals®
SkinCeuticals® are powerful skin care products formulated to heal and revive the skin. Try Phyto A Brightening Treatment, Metacell Renewal B3, or Phloretin CF to visibly brighten and even your skin tone.
ZO® Skincare Products
The proper skin care can heal melasma for years to come. ZO® Skincare Products are available at Evolve Medical Center. Try Smart Tone Broad sunscreen to stop skin spots in their tracks. For sun spot aftercare, try the Exfoliating Polish or Wrinkle + Texture Repair.
